Regional Eating and Drinking Habits - UK - March 2001

This is the first time that Mintel has examined cooking and eating habits at a regional level. The purpose of the report is to identify trends within cooking and eating across Great Britain as a whole, and then to examine whether these trends differ regionally.

In order to examine this further, the report will examine whether the British are becoming more adventurous in their cooking and eating habits, or whether traditional attitudes remain.

Sections within the report will study the demographic make-up of the nation and its regions, consumption and expenditure on food and drink, and attitudes towards cooking and eating as displayed in exclusive consumer research undertaken for this report. The trends identified within these sections will then be summarised at a regional level, with an eye to future developments.

Other Mintel reports of relevance include:

- British Lifestyles, 2001

- The Americanisation of British Eating Habits, Market Intelligence, January 2001

- Drinking Trends, Market Intelligence, November 2000.
