The year 2009 was weak in terms of Germany’s economic performance and consumer confidence was dented significantly. Despite monetary obstacles, leisure outbound travel declined only marginally in 2009, but this trend was sustained in 2010 despite better economic conditions. Nonetheless, the improving economy throughout 2011 is helping to power outbound tourism underpinned by a strong Euro that is giving Germans real value for money in some foreign markets.
