Asda is trialling a new shopping experience by introducing 'Digital Spirits display screens' in 23 of its Express stores, in partnership with beverage company, Diageo. This innovative technology aims to significantly expand the range of spirits available to Asda customers, increasing the selection to 50. The display screens are equipped with touch screen interactive technology complemented by an integrated printer, designed to streamline the purchasing process. To ensure compliance with legal age requirements, customers are prompted to confirm they are over 18 before proceeding with their selection. Upon choosing a spirit, the system generates a ticket that the customer then takes to the checkout for processing. The final sale is contingent upon an Asda staff member's approval, following a standard challenge 25 prompt, to verify the buyer's age.
