Adena Brands, the parent company of Monsoon, Accessorize, and East, reported a 4% decrease in group sales to £248 million for the year ending 26 August 2023, attributing the dip to transitioning to a new franchise partner in Saudi Arabia and a downturn in kidswear sales. Despite this overall decline, retail like-for-like sales saw a 4% increase, with Accessorize's UK retail sales growing by 11% and Monsoon's digital womenswear sales rising by 6%, marking a significant 52% increase over pre-pandemic levels in 2019. However, EBITDA fell to £20 million, down by £4.4 million from the previous year while gross margin remained relatively stable at 62.2%, slightly down from 62.9% the year prior, with the business citing the increase in National Living Wage, rates, and energy costs as contributing an additional £5 million in expenses.
